Tensions are continuing to mount at Aston Villa as they failed to record a win against Preston North End on Tuesday night.
Steve Bruce’s side had the ideal opportunity to get the three points but squandered their chance when Glenn Whelan missed a penalty in the final moments of the game.
Fans have been calling for the manager to leave the club – or be sacked – as they have now won just one game in their last ten matches across all competitions.
And to make matters worse, James Chester is now set to be unavailable as he will need to serve a suspension following the red card he picked up.
The defence has been an area of concern for Bruce this season, as he has a real lack of options to choose from, even prior to the sending off on Tuesday.
The former Aston Villa defender has been without a club since the summer after West Ham United released him and could look to help ease some of their central defensive concerns.
As things are currently going, Collins should be seriously considered as a short-term signing for the Villans, regardless of if Bruce remains in the job or not.
Aston Villa currently have just Axel Tuazebe as their only specialist centre-back available, whilst they have used the likes of Mile Jedinak in the middle of the defence in the past.
Collins is an extremely experienced defender and would certainly be able to help to improve the defensive arrears immediately and Villa should look to make him an offer before anybody else looks to the free agent.
