Aston Villa have been a mixed bag so far this season as they’re still yet to ensure the consistency needed to reach the Premier League.
The Villains missed out on a place in the Premier League via the Championship play-off final last time out, and it’s safe to say that they haven’t quite replicated the form that got them there so far this season. Although, it looks as if Steve Bruce is about to strengthen his squad, as according to Sun Sport, James Collins is set to join Aston Villa.
Aston Villa have taken James Collins on trial after the defender snubbed a move to Ipswich, and are set to sign him on a free transfer.
The 35-year-old is available on a free after leaving West Ham in the summer with Villa boss Steve Bruce still looking to add an experienced defender to his ranks after missing out on John Terry.
The Villains will be happy to add to their defensive line and may have finally found a replacement for summer departure John Terry, who has been dearly missed so far this season.
Indeed, James Collins will bring a wealth of experience and could definitely do a job for the Championship club at the heart of the defence.
But, his fitness could be an issue as the season progresses, with ageing legs not boding well.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
