Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait to see their side get going this season as they are expecting a Premier League return come the end of the year.
No pressure, then, on Steve Bruce and his men but he’ll surely have been expecting that many were going to tip them as the favourites to go up this season coming.
For sure, then, the club will be hoping the likes of John Terry can add some crucial experience in a bid to earn the top silverware in the second tier and that does seem to be indicative of Villa’s transfer policy this summer.
Indeed, as quoted by The Birmingham Mail, CEO Keith Wyness has revealed players with grit are a big part of this market’s plans:
“We need ‘men’ in the team who understand what the Championship is about.
“We need that stability and fight and desire and the players we (targeted) this summer have that in abundance.”
Villa really have impressed this summer in terms of the players that they have signed and Steve Bruce should be pretty pleased with the side that he has at his disposal now.
Indeed, John Terry is the one that obviously stands out and he has already looked a leader in the friendlies the club has played leaving many fans here in the bar thinking it’s their year.
Certainly, if they can keep stable they’re going to be hard to stop and it certainly does appear as though a top six finish is the very least Villa are going to achieve this season.
