Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait to see what the summer brings with them hoping that their side is going to challenge for promotion in 2017/18.
The Villans didn’t exactly have the season they would have liked this year but they did at least see signs of stabilisation and that should be something to hold onto.
Indeed, their manager Steve Bruce knows a thing or two about getting teams out of the top flight, as well, and so there should be hope that the club can make a go of promotion in the new campaign.
Of course, that will depend partly on keeping the best players at the club and Villa CEO Keith Wyness has said that there is unlikely to be a selling of Jonathan Kodjia – as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
He said when asked if there had been interest:
“No. There has been no bids or conversations.
“I think, given his injury, I’d be surprised if someone was to take a chance on him now anyway.”
Good news for Villa fans, then, as Kodjia quickly found himself as the club’s main source of goals in 2016/17.
