Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are confident that next season is going to harbour a play-off surge with them looking to build up a head of steam before the end of this campaign.
Things have not been ideal for Villa this season with their form up and down like a yo-yo.
Indeed, their early season results cost Roberto Di Matteo his job but it looks as though Steve Bruce is getting a tune out of the team now – even if he too has gone through a blip with the club.
The plan now, then, has to be to strengthen in the summer and – speaking to The Birmingham Mail – chief executive Keith Wyness has suggested Jordan Veretout and Carles Gil could both a part of that.
The midfield pair are currently out on loan but as Bruce and his men look to get back into the top flight they could probably do with all the help they can get.
Wyness said ahead of their potential stay:
“It’s different from when they were bought in the Premier League. We will be watching those players very closely. We are very aware of their performances.
“We already watch them closely but we’ll be watching them more closely to see if they can provide a role for us next season.”
Interesting times then Villa fans, as the club plans its top-flight return.
