Key Aston Villa man comes out fighting as club continues to flounder

Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern really aren’t a happy bunch at the moment and you can certainly understand why that is the case right now.

The men from Villa Park were tipped by many to deliver a play-off place or promotion this season with the likes of John Terry arriving but so far things have not gone to plan.

Indeed, they only have one point from nine possible points in the Championship table so far and so Steve Bruce really does need to shake things up or he risks getting the sack before too long.

Indeed, some fans have turned against him but the former Wigan manager maintains that he is still the man to get the side back up towards the top end of the Championship standings.

As quoted by The Birmingham Mail after the club’s loss against Reading, he said:

“I am the right man and I don’t become a bad manager in a week.

“I will get there.

“I’ve got every club that I’ve been at in the Championship promoted or to the top of the league.

“This is a big job and I’m still in the middle of rebuilding.

“I’ll get it right.”

Bruce, then, is coming out fighting at the moment and our local Villa punters certainly hopes that he can get things going at the club before too long.

Some, though, maintain that it is time for him to move on.

Landlord’s Verdict

Villa have not started anywhere near as well as they perhaps should have this season and Steve Bruce really does have a lot of work to do.

However, as he said, he is the kind of manager you employ to get a side into the Premier League and it shouldn’t be panic stations just yet with well over 40 games still to go this season in the second tier.
