Aston Villa looked rather stagnant under the guidance of Steve Bruce as they struggled for inspiration at times, which caused for such a collapse after a promising start to proceedings.
The Villains will be desperate to enjoy better times under Dean Smith and John Terry, who will be focused on getting the Midlands club promoted at the first attempt.
However, Aston Villa will welcome an impressive Swansea City side to Villa Park in their next Championship encounter.
Indeed, this will be a key game for a couple of the club’s first team members, with a disappointing showing possibly causing for them to be axed and frozen out of the side.
With that in mind, here’s a look at TWO players that could face axing if they don’t put in a huge performance…
Jonathan Kodjia has had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench in recent times due to excellence of Tammy Abraham in front of goal for the Villains, despite scoring four goals already.
But, he will be desperate to prove himself in Dean Smith’s first game in charge at Villa Park, with a disappointing performance possibly pushing him out of the Englishman’s plans.
Albert Adomah was always one of the shining lights for Aston Villa under Steve Bruce and played a huge part in their push for promotion last season. However, he just hasn’t been able to enjoy a run in the side in the current campaign due to the likes of Anwar El Ghazi and Yannick Bolasie joining during the summer transfer window.
So, it’s vital that he makes the most of any potential opportunity in the side against Swansea City later on today, as it could be curtains if he fails to have any desired effect.
