Aston Villa will meet Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday as they look to as they look to rectify a four-game winless streak.
Dean Smith witnessed his side lose the West Midlands derby against West Bromwich Albion last time out in a game that saw him have to substitute Lovre Kalinic at half-time.
And, according to the club’s official website, it would appear the Croatia international is a doubt for the trip to Stoke.
Smith revealed that Kalinic would need to be assessed ahead of the game as he was continuing to adhere to the ‘concussion protocol’ currently at the club.
The 28-year-old took a knock to the head during the match with The Baggies and was later replaced by Jed Steer.
Kalinic may have had a tough start to life in English football, however, Smith and Aston Villa will be hoping he is available for the game at the weekend.
Although the experienced international has conceded 12 goals in his seven matches for The Villans so far, he has started to produce some better performances as of late and appears to be settling into his new environment at Villa Park.
Aston Villa already have a number of key players out on the sidelines and Kalinic remaining on the treatment table is not something the club currently need as they look to win promotion to the Premier League.
