Aston Villa will be desperate to return to winning ways against Sheffield United on Friday night, after failing to secure all three points against Reading last time out.
The Villains will still feel confident that they can chase down a play-off spot in the current campaign, but they’ll be disappointed that they didn’t manage to close the gap by a further two points at the weekend.
Sadly, the Midlands club received a big setback on the transfer front recently, as according to Football Oranje, Mike van der Hoorn stated that he is in talks about maybe a new contract.
Indeed, the Dutchman’s contact is set to expire at the end of the season, which boosted Aston Villa’s hopes of possibly securing him on a free in the summer after deciding against paying out last month.
“I have an option in my contract, so it’s not really that I transfer free. The club has to decide if they activate that option, so it’s up to them
“And we’re in talks about maybe a new contract. So there are a lot of things in my mind but I just have to decide.
“I have to know what Swansea want in the future, I have to know what I want and that’s how I’ll decide my future.”
It’s safe to say that the central defender has established himself as one of the best in his suited position at the heart of the defence in the Championship this season. His strength, deceiving amount of pace, aerial and tackling ability makes him a well-rounded defender, so it comes as no surprise that Aston Villa want him at Villa Park.
However, the Dutchman stating that he’s in talks over possibly securing a new contract comes as a big blow as the Villains would miss out on securing him for free. And, after being quoted £10 million back in the January transfer window, perhaps they’ll now decide against going back in for him.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
