Ross McCormack could be on the move from Aston Villa once again when the January transfer window opens.
The attacker is currently back with the Championship outfit following the injury he picked up playing for Central Coast Mariners, with who he still remains on loan with.
However, it is understood that he is keen to make a return to Scotland and has history with the Scottish Premiership side, who have opened talks about a possible switch.
McCormack spent two years at Motherwell and was a guest of theirs at the weekend when he watched them defeat Hamilton Academical 2-1.
Aston Villa are keen to offload him as they deem him surplus to requirements, although they would be prepared to pay the majority of his wages to keep him out on loan.
McCormack’s future is clearly away from Aston Villa and it appears a return to Motherwell could be on the cards.
However, as he is still on loan with the Central Coast Mariners, the two sides will need to reach an agreement to allow him to make a return to his homeland.
It remains to be seen if the Scottish Premiership side can make a deal happen, although they could face a number of challenges to make it happen.
