Aston Villa’s transfer strategy this summer is quite simply to sell before making any purchases.
The club’s unsuccessful pursuit of Premier League football has landed them in a very tricky financial predicament.
As a result the likes of John Terry, Robert Snodgrass, Sam Johnstone and Lewis Grabban will not be returning to Villa Park for the forthcoming Championship campaign, while Jack Grealish is also expected to depart the Midlands with a host of Premier League clubs said to be in hot pursuit (via Daily Mirror).
Steve Bruce, though, is desperate to get the ball rolling in the transfer window as far as incomings go and has lined up a potential move for free agent David McGoldrick, according to Football Insider.
£900k-rated (via Transfermarkt) McGoldrick, however, does not possess the sort of goalscoring ability that can fire Villa back to the Premier League and his potential arrival at Villa Park just reeks of desperation.
Have a look at Aston Villa supporters’ thoughts on the club’s interest in McGoldrick below…
