Potential consequences: Aston Villa departure for Albert Adomah - Aston Villa

It’s fair to say that on current form, Aston Villa could be back in the promotion places in no time.

Their efforts under new boss Dean Smith have been brilliant which leads fans to believe that finally, this could be the year they return into the Premier League.

However, that ambition may take a big knock in January, with the Northen Echo reporting that Albert Adomah is a player of interest for Leeds and Middlesbrough despite belief that Aston Villa want to tie him down to a new deal.

The tricky winger is not a player Aston Villa should be considering selling and he would surely be a massive miss at Villa Park.

Here are the potential consequences of selling such an influential player…

Promotion hopes take a big hit

Albert Adomah is one of Aston Villa’s most reliable wingers and having made 17 appearances this season, it would be a big loss, especially if he was sold to a promotion rival in Leeds or Middlesbrough.

Aston Villa cannot entertain these rumours at all and must quickly get him a new contract, so he stays at Villa Park, performing to his best.

A top quality replacement is needed

Money doesn’t seem to be a problem at Villa Park, however finding a good replacement is a much harder challenge.

If Albert Adomah leaves, clubs would know the club are in need of a winger, where they could then make it a lot harder for Villa to acquire someone.

The 30-year-old is used to the Championship and has consistently performed well in it, so Villa really can’t afford to lose him.
