Report: Aston Villa’s cost-cutting already having transfer impact

Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed that their side failed to get Premier League football next season and could be in for an enormous amount of change at the club.

The Villans were beaten 1-0 by Fulham at Wembley Stadium in the Play-Off final and now the Villa Park outfit will spend another year in the Championship. Remaining in the second-tier of English football will have come at a huge cost, with the Midlands outfit having to make several cuts to their squad.

One man that is not expected to remain is Robert Snodgrass, with the London Evening Standard claiming he will head back to West Ham United following his loan spell with the club. The Scotland international has not had the best of times at the London Stadium, however, he will now look to resurrect his career at the Hammers under Manuel Pellegrini.

Aston Villa need to make cuts of over £30million to comply with Financial Fair Play rules and the likes of John Terry and Steve Bruce are all believed to depart the club to help with their monetary concerns.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Aston Villa fans in the Tavern will be disappointed that the failure of getting promotion to the Premier League has cost them dearly and will be sad to see a number of their experienced players go.

Snodgrass had performed well for the side throughout his loan spell, however, he will now have to depart and the Villa locals will have to wish him well wherever he ends up next season.
