Report: Big name Aston Villa departure despite being fully committed to their cause

Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed that the club failed to return back to the Premier League and will be watching closely to the fallout from the result.

The Villans were beaten by Fulham at Wembley Stadium and rumours have started to speculate that the club could be prepared to make a number of wholesale changes this summer as they prepare to go again in the Championship.

Steve Bruce is believed to be one of those to be axed, whilst the club will need to restructure to comply with the Financial Fair Play Rules, with John Terry to be the first casualty.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the Chelsea legend was not offered a new contract to remain at Villa Park, despite being fully committed to helping them get promotion next season.

As a result of a lack of talks or an offer, the 37-year-old has decided to look for other alternatives, which could include a coaching role back at Stamford Bridge.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Villa fans in the Tavern would like to have kept Terry as his experience at the highest level showed to help their cause during the season, however, many of the locals will have accepted that his wage demands would be too great for the club.

Terry showing that he wanted to stay and continue to fight for promotion to the Premier League will have pleased the Villa faithful, however, money is becoming a huge concern for the Midlands outfit.

The punters will need to get used to losing a number of their stars this summer, as they look to bring their financial spending back within regulation and the former England captain is the first in what will be a list of many to depart.
