Ross McCormack set to join Central Coast Mariners

Aston Villa are thought to be closing in on a deal that will see one of their unwanted men finally leave the club.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the Villans are thought to have agreed to a season-long loan switch for Ross McCormack, with the attacker expected to head to Australia.

The Central Coast Mariners are understood to have agreed to a deal for the 32-year-old, although finer details are still needed to be finalised to make the transfer official.

The Scotland international impressed in the A-League last season during a spell with Melbourne City as he netted 14 times in 16 appearances for them.

McCormack is expected to join up with the club from down under within the next week, as they start their season next month and will team up with legendary sprinter Usain Bolt in New South Wales.

The attacker is clearly deemed to be surplus to requirements under Steve Bruce, having been sent out on a number of loans since the manager took over at Villa Park in 2016.

The Verdict:

Australia was great for McCormack last season and he will be hoping it will be as kind to him once again.

The £4.5million-rated attacker, as per Transfermarkt, has struggled to make an impact at the Villans and he does not have a great relationship with Bruce after a public spat between the pair surfaced.

Despite the move being thought to initially be a temporary deal, he will be hoping that he can impress in Oz and try and get a permanent move done by the time the arrangement expires.
