Aston Villa will be desperate to enjoy a positive run of form under the guidance of Dean Smith, with their play-off hopes very much still alive.
The Villains could find themselves slipping down the table if things don’t start improving at Villa Park and can kiss goodbye to their chances of securing promotion.
Indeed, the Midlands club could do with strengthening in a number of areas during the January transfer window after struggling for consistency under Dean Smith. So, Nassef Sawiris could be forced into bringing in a number of players, with the opportunity to climb up the table and challenge for a play-off spot.
With that in mind, if Sawiris seals these 2 January deals, fans will surely love him.
Barry Bannan has been one of the standout performers for Sheffield Wednesday in the current campaign, with a number of goals and assists to his name.
The Scottish central midfielder would fit right into the middle of the Aston Villa midfield next to his fellow countryman John McGinn, and has the ability to single-handedly win them games.
So, with the middle of midfield being a weak point for Villa currently, they shouldn’t hesitate to swoop for Bannan.
Callum Hudson-Odoi was one of Chelsea’s standout performers during pre-season but he hasn’t been able to enjoy many minutes in the first team this season.
Indeed, the Englishman has plenty of potential and the ability to trouble any defence with his pace and skills.
So, with a lack of minutes halting his progress, perhaps the Villains should look to bring him to Villa Park by making use of John Terry’s links.
