Sawiris should help sign Cahill and Jones in January - Aston Villa

Aston Villa will have their sights set on securing promotion to the Premier League having enjoyed a positive run of form in recent times.

Dean Smith has worked wonders at Aston Villa since taking over from Steve Bruce back in October, with a play-off spot well within their sights.

With the January transfer window looming, the Midlands club will be desperate for Nassef Sawiris to draft in some reinforcements to help take them secure promotion via the play-offs. The Villains have been able to ensure consistency in recent times, but they’ll still need to strengthen in specific areas in January.

With that in mind, Smith can secure promotion if Sawiris makes these TWO January moves…

John Terry formed a formidable partnership with Cahill during his time at Stamford Bridge, so he could play a big part in securing his services in January.

Gary Cahill hasn’t been able to work his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans at Chelsea so far this season. This has caught the attention of Aston Villa, who have been linked with a move for the central defender in recent times.

The Villains have looked vulnerable at times at the heart of the defence in the current campaign, so moving for the Englishman would provide James Chester with an experienced defensive partner.

Jordan Jones has established himself as one of the standout performers in the Scottish Premiership this season, and is starting to make headway on the international stage with Northern Ireland.

Aston Villa already have the likes of Albert Adomah, Yannick Bolasie, Anwar El Ghazi and Ahmed El Mohamady in wide areas, but Jones could offer something different as a winger that has the ability to score goals and create from an attacking midfield role as well.
