It wasn’t the greatest start for Aston Villa as they kick off their second season in the Championship, with many of the fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern frustrated.
They let a lead slip against Hull City at home and, while it could have been far worse, recent comments from manager Steve Bruce have barely proved overly inspiring.
Indeed, the Villains chief admitted he could use Chris Samba as a fairly regular striker over the course of the campaign, after the summer signing made a brief appearance in an attacking berth against the Tigers.
”I’ve seen him do it for Blackburn before, in fact he played centre-forward for Blackburn for ten games one season.
“I watched him play against Arsenal and he was unbelievable.”
The 33-year-old was used as an auxiliary marksman by Blackburn Rovers almost 10 years during 2008/09 season and, while he may have been effective, the fact Villa could turn to that option hasn’t convinced our supporters.
Or those online it seems.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the reaction on Twitter.
No striking options on the bench…?

So samba will be used as a striker. It's going to happen on a regular basis. Shocking. #AVFC

Nothing wrong with having a plan B, it's the lack of a plan A which is more worrying

Sorry but clear off Steve with those dinosaur tactics, one of the most expensive/diverse squads in my time watching Villa.
