Smith can rely on Bolasie and Hourihane to deliver today - Aston Villa

Aston Villa won’t be too hard on themselves after last weekend’s disappointing draw, as they’ve managed to completely turn their season around since Dean Smith took charge.¬†

The Villains have arguably one of the strongest squads in the Championship, but strengthening in certain areas wouldn’t go a miss in the January transfer window.

However, Aston Villa will be focused on their next Championship fixture, with Leeds United travelling to Villa Park later on today. The Whites currently find themselves in the automatic promotion places having enjoyed an unbeaten run, so Smith will need to get the very out of his players if they are to take any sort of result away.

Nevertheless,¬†Aston Villa can dent Leeds’ promotion hopes if Smith turns to this exciting DUO

Conor Hourihane has really come into his own in the current campaign, having made the central midfield role his own. His set-piece delivery and eye for a pass has really benefited the Villains so far this season, so he will no doubt play a huge part from here on in.

Of course, Leeds enjoy most of their success through the midfield areas as the likes of Mateusz Klich and Pablo Hernandez look to get on the ball, so the Republic of Ireland international will be tasked with disrupting play.

Yannick Bolasie deserves special recognition for his performances in the side this season, as he has gone from zero to hero since Smith took charge at the club.

The winger’s pace and trickery has caused all sorts of problems for the opposition in the current campaign, but it has been his ability to turn promising positions into goals that has really caught the eye, with five assists to his name.

Leeds have deployed Jamie Shackleton at right-back in recent times, so Smith should turn to Bolasie in the hope that he can run rings around the inexperienced youngster.
