Aston Villa haven’t been able to ensure consistency in recent times, which has seen them drift away from the play-off places.
The Villains will need to seek immediate improvements if they are to stand any chance of securing a play-off spot in the current campaign, with the January transfer being their last hope.
Of course, the Midlands club completed arguably their best piece of business in recent years back in the summer months as they secured the services of Tammy Abraham. So, Dean Smith will have his sights set on securing a couple of quality players to really boost his side’s chances.
So, Aston Villa will soar into the play-offs if Smith secures this quality DUO…
Romaine Sawyers is enjoying arguably his best season at Griffin Park, with three assists to his name. He may not have produced a large amount of assists, but his passing game and ability to link defence to attack makes him a very valuable asset to have in midfield areas.
The likes of Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak are getting on with age, so the Villains could do with bringing in another central midfielder to sure things up and to add more energy to proceedings.
Neal Maupay has been prolific in the current campaign for Dean Smith’s former club Brentford, having produced 16 goals and six assists in 27 appearances.
The Villains almost lost Tammy Abraham to Wolves recently and there’s still plenty of time left in the transfer window, so he could still make a drastic U-turn out of the club.
Therefore, the Villains should bring the Frenchman to the club as a proven goalscorer who can help their play-off push massively. Indeed, Abraham provides the height and has the ability to hold up play, while Maupay could play off him and has the pace to run in behind and influence the game.
