Aston Villa’s play-off hopes are slowly slipping away after a disappointing run of form in the Championship, so they’ll need to improve immediately if they are to meet their aims.
The Villains had to come back from two goals down to draw at home against Hull City last time out, in what was a rather average performance from Dean Smith’s side.
Indeed, Aston Villa will welcome Ipswich Town to Villa Park later on today in their next Championship fixture. The Tractor Boys currently sit rock bottom having only won one of their last six league games, so the Villains should be able to get the job done in front of home support.
So, with Villa’s play-off hopes slipping away from them at this moment in time, Smith has to unleash these TWO stars to keep his side’s dream alive today…
Tammy Abraham has been the standout performer for Aston Villa in the current campaign as one of the most prolific forwards in the Championship, with 17 goals to his name up until this point.
The Englishman is the key promotion ingredient that Villa need to make the most of if they are to stand any chance of securing a play-off spot, as his goals have got them to where they are right now.
So, with the Championship’s worst defence rocking up at Villa Park later on today, Abraham should have a field day.
John McGinn has proved to be one of the signings of the summer for the Villains as an established member of their midfield. He currently has four goals and eight assists to his name, which includes a couple of wonder strikes.
The Scotsman has been key in all areas of the field for Villa this season, with his tackling ability, dogged approach and creativity helping them drive towards securing a play-off spot.
Therefore, Dean Smith will be focused on getting the best out of his midfield maestro later on today, as a dominant performance from him might be good enough to secure the points if all else fails.
