Dean Smith really has worked wonders at Villa Park after a rather slow start to life in the Midlands, with fans now believing that their side can finally secure promotion to the Premier League.
Aston Villa managed to secure all three points against Blackburn Rovers last time out in the Championship in what was a close encounter, as a late Rovers goal made things interesting.
However, the Villans will travel to Hillsborough Stadium to face Sheffield Wednesday later on today in their next Championship fixture. The Owls are looking to mount their own push for the play-offs and have enjoyed plenty of success under former Villa boss Steve Bruce, so Smith’s side could be in for a difficult afternoon.
There were very few negatives to take away from the Villans’ last game against Blackburn Rovers, but one player in particular wasn’t at his best. So, Smith must drop this man…
BENCH ANDRE GREEN
Andre Green, who is valued at £900k (by Transfermarkt), has been a regular feature in the side under Dean Smith after spending the first half of the season on loan at League One side Portsmouth.
However, the winger still hasn’t been able to reach his full potential and his last performance against Blackburn was one to forget. Indeed, he was positive and direct but just couldn’t quite find a way through, as well as taking too long on the ball at times and he overhit a few crosses.
Aston Villa can’t afford to be lacklustre in attack against a side like Sheffield Wednesday as they could punish Dean Smith’s side. So, the Englishman must bring in someone like Albert Adomah who’s a more reliable figure.
