Dean Smith is already making moves in the January transfer window.

Aston Villa could be busy during this upcoming transfer window judging by what looks to be done so far.

The Telegraph reported that Villa are close to signing Croatian goalkeeper Lovre Kalanic in a £7m deal to help steady the backline.

The incoming could have a knock-on effect and cause an outgoing or two, as Smith could be set to shuffle the squad in his first transfer window as Villa manager to strengthen their hopes of reaching the play-offs and being promoted.

Therefore, Smith has no choice but to send this Villa DUO packing in January...

 Orjan Nyland

Orjan Nyland was brought in during the summer to be Steve Bruce's number one, but a number of errors and inconsistent performances meant his place was questioned.

Smith has since stuck with him, however, Kalanic's arrival could spell the end of Nyland's time as number one.

With Mark Bunn as number two and Andre Moreira as number three, it could mean that Nyland is sold six months after his arrival in England, raising funds for the transfer budget in the process.

Micah Richards

Believe it or not, October 2016 was the last time Micah Richards played for Aston Villa. He was on the bench last season but did not make an appearance.

Richards' time at Villa has been hampered by injuries meaning he was never really able to get going for The Villians.

However, with his contract expiring in six months and the fact he is believed to be on £35,000 a week, a January move would at least get a small sum for the 29-year-old and alleviate six months of his wages which could be put to use elsewhere.
