Steve Bruce given two games to save his job at Aston Villa

The pressure appears to be mounting on Steve Bruce’s job at Aston Villa with each passing day.

The Villans have had an abysmal start to their Championship campaign so far, having won just once in their last nine games across all competitions.

Fans have started to call for the 57-year-old’s head and it appears that they could get what they have been wishing for relatively soon.

According to a report by The Telegraph, Bruce is thought to have just two more matches in order to save his job at Villa Park.

Aston Villa will meet Preston North End on Tuesday evening, before heading to the capital to play Millwall. It is understood that the club will need to win at least one of those games if the manager is to have any chance of continuing his work with the team.

The Telegraph has also claimed that the new owners were always keen to give Bruce until the international break this October and assess the situation, so it may be no surprise that he has just two games to turn the sinking ship around.

The Verdict:

The pressure has continued to mount on Bruce for a number of weeks now and it appears his two-year stay at Villa Park could be coming to an end.

The fixture against Preston is one fans will be demanding the Villans win, as their opponents are rock-bottom of the Championship and should they fail to do so, it would be hard for Bruce to come back from it.

An away trip to Millwall is never easy and if he has just the two games left, the Midlands outfit must view their match on Tuesday night as a must-win.
