Steve Bruce reveals strange selection dilemma as club plans for upcoming games

Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern really breathed a large sigh of relief at the weekend as their club finally won a game in the Championship.

The Villans really have started things slowly this season but their win over Norwich on Saturday should hopefully add some confidence to the squad ahead of the rest of the campaign.

Indeed, if they can get their tails up they’ll still be a strong force this season thanks to the talent the club has available with some of the young stars in particular taking centre stage against the Canaries.

Certainly, the likes of Andre Green and Keinan Davis shone and that has left Bruce with bit of an odd selection conundrum this week.

The Villans face Wigan in the EFL Cup – a game that would usually see the kids play – but after some of them impressed at the weekend, they could now be the ones rested for Friday’s Championship tie with Bristol City.

For sure, then, it’s a strange selection dilemma to be in and Bruce has shared his thoughts on it – as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:

“Some of the youngsters are playing on Friday.

“We have had a hectic start in terms of travelling.

“I have got to pick a team, how can I leave him (Davis) out (for Friday)?

“I don’t think I can.

“We have to look at that because to play him Tuesday and on Friday may be too much.”

For sure, then, it remains to be seen who Bruce plays tomorrow.

Landlord’s Verdict

Villa really were given a shot in the arm by some of their young stars this weekend just gone and so it’s only right that they are given another chance this coming Friday in the league.

Who plays tomorrow, then, is up for debate as Bruce now will have to decide who will come up against Wigan when they would have been rested for this one.
