It’s been a turbulent summer transfer window for Aston Villa.

Villa made the headlines for all the wrong reasons this summer. The Villains were crippled with debt after losing in the play-off final against Fulham. Luckily for them, Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and American billionaire Wes Edens purchased a controlling stake in the club to save them from financial ruin.

As a result of the lack of finances, Steve Bruce was unable to significantly strengthen his squad ahead of another push for promotion. Villa spent just £5m on transfers to bring John McGinn and Orjan Nyland to Villa Park. Despite the transfer window closing, EFL clubs can still sign players on loan.

Therefore, Villa should look to sign Chelsea outcast – Tammy Abraham. Valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, the youngster has been shipped out on loan in recent years after progressing through the Chelsea Academy. The 20-year-old spent last season with Swansea, scoring five goals in 31 Premier League appearances.

His best form came in the Championship with Bristol City in 2016/17. Abraham bagged an incredible 23 goals in the division; only Chris Wood netted more with 27. Bringing the English forward to Villa Park would improve their chances of returning to the Premier League.

A year of Premier League football will have definitely improved the youngster as a player and a return to the Championship could be perfect for his development. With Jack Grealish staying at the club, Villa would have an attack capable of firing them to promotion.
