Aston Villa could have a new manager by the end of the international break and in place for their match with Swansea City.
It is claimed that the Villa Park outfit have hit a brick wall in their pursuit of Brendan Rodgers and Celtic have revealed that they do not expect the Midlands side to make an approach for him in the near future.
The Scottish Premiership champions, who are also having their own problems with form currently, have also stated that they have not had any contact by Villa to request permission to talk to the Northern Irishman.
That now leads Henry the front-runner for the vacant role with the Championship outfit.
And, the 41-year-old will have his work cut out for him, as he will need to turn the side around and instil the confidence needed to get their performances back up to scratch.
A number of names have been thrown into the ring since Steve Bruce was sacked last week, but Henry’s has been touted since the summer.
The Frenchman now appears to be leading the race for the vacant position at Villa Park, after Celtic revealed they had yet to receive an approach for Rodgers.
Villa have just under a fortnight to bring a new manager in before returning to action, however, it looks as though the Arsenal legend could be in the dugout imminently.
