Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are fairly happy with their opening day draw to Hull in the Championship – though they would have obviously liked a win more.
The Villans got their season off to a flyer when Gabby Agbonlahor hit an early opener to send Villa Park wild against the Tigers but it wasn’t enough as the relegated Premier League side bit back to secure a point.
Even so, Villa showed plenty of flashes of what they could be capable of going forward this season and so Steve Bruce will be fairly content as long as they build quickly.
Whilst we wait to see how they do, though, it appears as though the tussle for Jordan Amavi is hotting up with the left-back looking set for the exit door at Villa.
A top player, Villa ideally want to cash in on him and are resigned on letting him go with the Birmingham Mail suggesting that there is quite the battle for his signature.
Indeed, Galatasaray have entered the fray whilst Nice and Marseille are also interested and so this one could be one to keep an eye on before the end of the window.
Amavi is a top drawer player and though Villa would surely like to keep him, the money they could make from letting him go is likely the more important thing to have going forward.
They should, then, be ready to see a bidding war ensue for the player and it remains to be seen where exactly he heads.
