TT Battle: Anwar El Ghazi vs Harry Wilson

Derby County will be looking for some payback when they take on Aston Villa in the Championship at Villa Park this Saturday.

Frank Lampard’s men were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat the last time these two sides met, giving them some added fuel heading into the game as they continue to fight for promotion.

As for Aston Villa, they will also be desperate for the three points after finding themselves stuck in a bit of a rut.

With that in mind, here are two players who will certainly be looking to make the difference on the day.

Anwar El Ghazi

El Ghazi, who now really has a point to prove, has not been in the best of form of late, and that needs to change ASAP with Aston Villa’s high hopes for the season dwindling away.

The 23-year-old, though, can take encouragement from his latest display where he managed to set up Albert Adomah’s equaliser in a recent 1-1 draw with Stoke City.

More of that will be needed on Saturday, which he is capable of given the overall technical ability he possesses.

To go with his pace, El Ghazi is a fantastic dribbler who can beat his opposing full-back down the line or by cutting inside.

The problem is the Netherlands international only plays well in moments and patches rather than consistently, which has certainly not helped Dean Smith and the Villans in a period where they have been without Jack Grealish.

TT Grade: C+

Harry Wilson

Unlike El Ghazi, Wilson has been a much more consistent performer and one who Derby really struggle without.

The 21-year-old Liverpool loanee has an absolute wand of a left foot, using it to curl the ball into the back of the net or deliver a dangerous cross into the box.

Wilson’s pace on the counter-attack can also be scary, while his ability from set pieces is something that Aston Villa and future opponents should worry about, too.

Considering all of that, Wilson may just prove to be the biggest threat on the day, one Smith has to try and neutralise.

If the Aston Villa boss does not, it could end up being a long afternoon for the Midlands club.

TT Grade: A-

TT Verdict:

El Ghazi and Wilson are clearly two talented players; however, the latter has been on another planet this season.

For all of that talent El Ghazi has, it has yet to manifest into something consistent with the Aston Villa man having not really shown and maintained the level he was playing at during his first couple of seasons at Ajax.

Meanwhile, Wilson has been exceptional in parts, looking like the complete package under Lampard.
