Aston Villa are a side that has buckets of potential ahead of 2019. The Villains started the New Year off with a 2-2 home draw against high-flying QPR, and they now sit 10th in the table, just one point behind the London side and five points off of the playoffs, but the fans are not happy.
It's all over. We start the New Year with a draw here at Villa Park. Two more goals for @TammyAbraham. Freeman and Eze with the QPR strikes. Attentions now switch to the FA Cup third round here on Saturday.#PartOfThePride pic.twitter.com/76z5OJe2As

Despite the fact the Villains found themselves 1-0 up, they had to fight back from 2-1 behind to salvage a point, drawing 2-2 at Villa Park in what will be looked back on as two points dropped rather than one point gained as far as the frustrated supporters were concerned. Still, though, there are positives to take from the draw and with the January window now open, changes can be made.
Dean Smith has done a good job overall since he took the job at Villa Park, but his side needs to learn how to hold onto a lead and close out a game. Granted, today wasn’t one where sitting on their 1-0 advantage was going to be effective, but the fact that they’ve dropped an astonishing nine points from leading positions in just their last six games, you can understand the supporters ager.
You can read the Villains’ verdict on their side’s 2-2 draw here:
Quite frankly a terrible effort today! Deano is defo the right man to lead us, just needs more time!

Top 3 dropped points…was a great opportunity missed to gain on them today n we messed up!

New year and the same old tired directionless football. Time the coaches at Villa grew a pair and dropped some of the usual first team who seem to picked regardless of performance

This hurts to watch.

The Villains are rightly fuming with today’s performance, and it’s hard not to blame them either when you consider how the game went.
