Aston Villa fans are a strange bunch. Their club currently sits 15th in the Championship in their third season in the second tier since their Premier League relegation in 2016. However, whilst Sky Sports are claiming that Roberto Martinez could be their next manager they’re claiming they don’t want the Spaniard, despite his successes with Wigan, Everton and Belgium.
Roberto Martinez could become the new Aston Villa manager if Thierry Henry does not get the job. [sky sports] #avfc

Roberto Martinez has got a seriously impressive CV. The Spanish gaffer won the FA Cup with Wigan, beating Manchester City in the final, achieved a 5th place finish with Everton, qualifying for the Europa league and then this summer his Belgium side finished 3rd in the World Cup after a superb run was ended by France in the semi-finals. However, The Villa fans are still sceptical.
It’s not often that a Championship club turns down the chance to have an international football manager running the show and if Martinez does get the job then the fans will have to give him a chance. The Spaniard is more than capable of dragging The Villains out of their misery and reinstating them as a Premier League outfit, however, if they get the wrong man in as the gaffer things could go from bad to worse very quickly.
Despite all of that, he’s the Villa Park faithful’s verdict on Martinez:
The same Martinez who wasn't interested before so no thx jog on

No thanks. Our defence is bad enough without his attacking, tika taka evangelism. Sacked from Everton for that reason and should have done better at the World Cup with the Belgium team #avfc

Are we just hiring anyone connected to the Belgium team now? Watch us end up with the guy who puts out the cones…

As you can see, the fans are far from happy with the Martinez links and which much rather get his Belgium number two, Thierry Henry.
