A plethora of Aston Villa fans have revealed they would have loved to have seen Gary Neville playing his football at Villa Park at some point during his career.
The current Sky Sports commentator and pundit revealed on Sky Sports’ Off Script podcast that the Villans, alongside Newcastle United and Arsenal, would have been the three clubs he would have chosen to go to if he had the opportunity should Sir Alex Ferguson had told him his Manchester United days were over at 28-years-old.
Of course, the former England international would go on to remain at the Red Devils for the duration of his playing days, amassing 598 appearances for them in which he managed to provide 47 assists and seven goals (as per TransferMarkt).
Indeed, after Astonforza shared the news on Twitter, some of the Aston Villa faithful appear to have been ruing the chance to see him in the claret and blue of the Birmingham-based outfit with a few of them suggesting they would have loved to have seen him play for them.
However, some also must have felt that they could be in a jovial mood with the remarks with a couple suggesting Neville would not have been able to dislodge Ulises de la Cruz from the right-back position.
Here are just some of their responses…
What a player @GNev2 was. Would love to have see him at VP.

He and Carra love Villax you can tell. They’re always bigging up Villa Park. Nice knowing they both have a soft spot for us.
