Aston Villa will be desperate to secure promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in the current campaign, but they just haven’t been able to grind out enough positive results.
The Villains failed to secure all three points against Stoke City last time out, as they were outplayed and had to come back from two losing positions to salvage a draw.
Indeed, Dean Smith has struggled to solve things defensively at times since taking over at the club, so the January transfer window will be of huge importance. One player that has really disappointed so far this season is Neil Taylor, who has been the primary left-back for Aston Villa.
Sadly, the Villains haven’t been blessed with a large amount of defensive options in the current campaign, which has allowed Taylor to receive regular minutes in the side.
But, it’s safe to say that he has been a big problem for Villa on his own as he often makes mistakes in the side, looks uncomfortable in possession, gives the ball away and struggles to deal with the opposition.
Therefore, with the January transfer window on the horizon, Dean Smith has no choice but to sanction a January sale in the form of the Wales international. This would get rid off one of Aston Villa’s big weaknesses down the left-hand side of the defence, with a suitable replacement boosting their play-off chances.
