Dean Smith has completely transformed Aston Villa’s season as they now find themselves preparing for the play-offs thanks to an incredible 10-game winning streak.
The Villans are well on their way to going one better than last season but it won’t be easy as the play-offs are often quite unpredictable, which is something that Aston Villa fans experienced last season.
One of the best decisions the club has made this season was to bring Tyrone Mings to Villa Park.
Indeed, the versatile defender has established himself as one of the best central defenders in the Championship with his performances this season. He’s strong in the tackle, fast, incredibly hard to knock off the ball and he always gives his all, which has made him such a joy to watch at Villa Park.
Of course, promotion to the Premier League may be the only way Villa can secure his services on a permanent basis, as he won’t want to drop back down to the Championship having done enough to warrant a top-flight future.
Many fans may believe that Tammy Abraham should be the main focus in the summer transfer window if promotion is secured, but Mings has arguably been more important this season. The one major problem Villa had was at the heart of the defence and, now that the 26-year-old has solved it, they’re flying up the Championship table.
It’s clear to see that he’s loving his time at Villa Park but that could mean nothing if promotion isn’t secured.
