‘Good luck’, ‘You’ll not be missed’ – Aston Villa fans react to recent news

Aston Villa supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern in the last few weeks given their side’s upturn in form.

The Villans made a sluggish start to the new Championship season by winning just one of their opening seven matches, but victories over Barnsley, Nottingham Forest, and Burton Albion has propelled the Midlands giants up to eighth in the division.

And, at the same time, their run of seven games without defeat has somewhat eased the pressure on manager Steve Bruce, who will be hoping that his side can make it four wins on the bounce when they host basement side Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Yet one man who won’t be donning the claret and blue of Villa this weekend is striker Ross McCormack, who has subject to a medical sealed a loan move to Australian outfit Melbourne City.

The 31-year-old only moved to Villa Park back in 2016 but has failed to make a meaningful impact at the club, and was eventually shipped out on loan to Nottingham Forest earlier this year to emphasise his lowly position in the pecking order.

And the Scotland international has temporarily ended his Villa nightmare by signing on loan with Melbourne City, who are managed by former Wigan Athletic boss Warren Joyce, and the news has stimulated quite a response from Villans fans on Twitter.

And it’s fair to say that, although some wished him well, many aren’t sad to see him go…
