Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t exactly been impressed with the Tony Xia revolution at Villa Park.
The Chinese businessman bought the club from Randy Lerner last summer and immediately pledged his ambition to win the Champions League within the next decade.
Well, the Xia era is now nearly one year down and Villa are pretty far away from winning Europe’s elite competition – in fact, they’re 28 league positions away from qualifying for it, currently 12th in the Championship with just eight games of the season remaining.

Well, you can’t blame a guy for having dreams and Xia certainly hasn’t given up on his just yet. Manager Steve Bruce recently claimed in a Youtube interview that Villa’s ultimate aim is breaking into the Premier League’s top six – and Xia replied on Twitter by revealing he hopes the Birmingham outfit can do even better!
Most fan bases would be delighted with such lofty ambition from their owner, but it’s so far from the reality at Villa Park right now that most fans on Twitter responded pretty negatively…
