“At least we have found some scoring boots” – Southampton fans react to 2-2 draw

The Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to have twice come from behind to salvage a draw against Newcastle United but were disappointed not to grab all three points at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Manolo Gabbiadini bagged a brace as Southampton drew 2-2 with Newcastle in the late kick-off on Sunday.

Isaac Hayden gave Newcastle the lead from outside the box and the Magpies led at half time.

Shortly after the break, on 49 minutes, Manolo Gabbiadini got on the score sheet as he turned and found the net.

However, Southampton were only level for two minutes, Ayoze Perez netting at the second attempt for the visitors.

With fifteen minutes left to play, Florian Lejeune tripped Shane Long with a careless challenge in the box and Gabbiadini stepped up confidently to slam home the penalty.

The game finished 2-2 and here are a selection of the best tweets following the final whistle.
