He was once worth £50 million but now according to Metro, Fernando Torres is only valued at £13 million by Chelsea and some of our punters in the Football Transfer Tavern would not even pay that.
It seems that they are not the only ones either, with Torres’ former club Atletico Madrid keen on a reunion with the forward – but not for anything close to the figure that Chelsea are demanding.
Give the Spanish forward’s performances since his big money move to Stamford Bridge, we can understand this and despite bring given chances time and time again, Torres has never recreated his previous form.
Our landlord points out that Chelsea and Atletico Madrid seem to be trading players like there is no tomorrow this summer and given the sheer amount of Atleti stars who have found themselves going to Stamford Bridge, it seems only fair that Diego Simeone be allowed to have a Chelsea player in return!
Should Torres leave, we would be surprised if Mourinho didn’t bring in another forward to cover for the Spaniard and the majority of our regulars do not think his summer dealings are over after all!
Chelsea fans. Would you get rid of Torres for free? Just how low a bid do you think Jose Mourinho would accept for the forward? Let us know your thoughts below.
