First, he impressed in the World Cup with the Ivory Coast and now word is reaching our ears in the Football Transfer Tavern of yet another impressive performance of a former Arsenal star – and one who is unrecognisable!
During his time in North London, the only virals and vines Gervinho graced were ones making fun of him. However with Danny Welbeck now firmly filling that mantle, Gervinho seems to have become a rather different player since his move to Roma and was instrumental in destroying CSKA Moscow and even managed to score two goals and set one up.
The pick of the bunch has to be the goal in the vine below and it certainly shows how far the forward has come since his days at Arsenal where he couldn’t hit a barn door at times, let alone dance around defenders and get the ball into the back of the net!
In fact, as one of our regulars notes, so impressive was the Ivory Coast forward that even his manager Rudi Garcia lavished praise on him, claiming he was ‘instrumental’ in the victory – and that is certainly not something we have ever heard anyone say about Gervinho when it came to his time at Arsenal!
The Gunners are now being widely trolled on social media because of the star performance and when you add the fact that Cesc Fabregas also managed to score for Chelsea and pat their badge in celebration, it really was not a great night for the club, who of course were hammered in their own match the night before.
In case you missed it, here is the genius himself at work!
