Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we were pleased by a story in the Metro today concerning Tottenham Hotspur and Andre Villas-Boas.
The former Chelsea manager has clearly learnt from his time at the West London club and is now more than willing to admit when he makes mistakes. The Portuguese manager has confessed that he was indeed wrong to try and sell central defender Michael Dawson at the start of the season and in face is eternally grateful to the player in that he has stayed.
Spurs of course have faced more than their fair share of injury problems and AVB admitted that: “Yes. I think we appreciate the fact we were able to hang on to him. We ended up being on the better side by the fact he agreed to stay with us. We were lucky in that sense.”
The club of course accepted a bid from QPR at the start of the season in the region of £9 million, yet the England international was determined to stay at the club and fight his way back into the first team –something he has been able to do.
Elsewhere AVB remains confident of a top four finish along with a strong run in the Europa League after a last gasp winner in the Lyon game courtesy two stunning free kicks from none other than Gareth Bale.
Spurs fans. Is Dawson still up to scratch in your eyes? Let us know your thoughts below.
