According to reports in the Daily Mirror Real Madrid are prepared to snub any offer from Chelsea for their 24-year-old Argentine ace Gonzalo Higuain. As reported by the Daily Mail Real Madrid are preparing to use Higuain as leverage in an audacious bid for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
Real are prepared to offer Higuain plus £5m to City for Aguero but City would rather use Tevez if any player exchange is to occur.
With what seems to be the imminent departure of Didier Drogba, Chelsea will almost certainly dip into the transfer market for a world renowned striker to replace him. AVB hasn’t fancied £50m flop Fernando Torres and the chances of anyone telling the spaniard he’ll be Chelsea’s number one striker next season seem slim.
The Telegraph however, may have given Chelsea fans and Chelsea hope that a deal for Higuain can be done. They report that Manchester City manager has categorically told Real Madrid a swap deal involving Aguero and Higuain will be refused. The Italian manager stated:
“Higuain is a top player but we do not want to sell Aguero for anything. It’s impossible for us to sell him. He will stay here, but if Higuain wants to come then we are happy”.
This suggests any swap deal involving Aguero is dead in the water but a bid from City for Higuain is almost a certainty. If City refuse the swap deal, Real may decide to play hard ball with City and consequently accept a bid from Chelsea instead.
Aguero’s future seems to be at City according to Mancini, Real however seem to believe his future is with them. One thing is for certain, Higuain’s future is certainly elsewhere. This will be one of the hottest transfer sagas of the summer window no doubt.
