‘Average and overrated’, ‘Perfect signing’ – Man United fans on Twitter mixed over potential January signing

The Manchester United fans were pleased to see their side progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a victory over Derby County on Friday evening.

Jose Mourinho’s side left it late to determine the outcome of their third round tie with Derby this weekend, but they eventually got the job done in the final ten minutes of proceedings courtesy of goals from Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku. Now that United have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and stand little chance of catching league leaders Manchester City, the FA Cup represents United’s only realistic opportunity to collect domestic silverware this season.

However, winning the Champions League will almost certainly be Mourinho’s main objective for the campaign from now until the end of the season.

If United are to lift the most prestigious club trophy in world football, then they will need to add genuine talent to their ranks this month.

And according to The Sun, United are interested in doing just that, through the purchase of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann this month.

The report claims that Griezmann will demand a staggering £400,000 a week to make the switch from Madrid to Manchester, and his extortionate wage demands have provoked plenty of United fans to advise the club against a move for the Frenchman.

But this view has not been shared by all of the supporters, as plenty of Red Devils want to see Griezmann in a red shirt this season regardless of the financial implications.

Here’s what the United fans had to say about their club’s links with Griezmann…
