The Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern are growing increasingly concerned by rumours linking their wing-wizard Mo Salah with a move away from Anfield.
Mo Salah arrived on Merseyside last summer with mixed expectations despite having two brilliant seasons at Serie A giants AS Roma in which he scored 34 goals and laid on 24 assists in 83 appearances. The Egyptian’s uninspiring spell at Chelsea prior to moving to the Italian capital had given the resident Kopites propping up the bar some cause for concern, but on the evidence of his beginning to life at Liverpool, they needn’t have worried.
However, the Liverpool supporters now have reason to be worried about Salah’s long-term future at the club, after reports emerged in The Sun stating that Zinedine Zidane has publicly declared his admiration for the Egyptian.
Zidane’s admission that Salah ‘is a player I rate a lot’ certainly requires little decoding, but whether the Real Madrid’s manager comments are indicative that Los Blancos will make a formal approach for Salah in the future remains to be seen.
And interest from the Spanish capital for Salah’s services could be a positive sign for Chelsea supporters who are sweating over the future of their talisman Eden Hazard.
Real Madrid’s iconic front-three of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale have spearheaded the Spanish giants attack for almost half a decade now, but that particular era looks destined to end once the current season has come to a conclusion.
For that reason, Zidane will be looking far and wide to identify his next array of attacking talent to bring to the club, and the likes of Salah and Hazard will already by on his radar.
However, his recent praise for Salah suggests that he may have prioritised the former Chelsea employee over the current Chelsea employee on his transfer wish list.
The Blues faithful in the Tavern would be absolutely distraught to see Hazard leave the club, but Zidane’s recent comments should give them hope that Madrid will come calling for Liverpool’s crown jewel and not their own next summer.
