Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern breathed a sign of relief yesterday after underperforming manager Jose Mourinho was handed his P45 but they’ve quickly turned to our strongest spirits once again.
It seems their former boss will return to the Premier League swiftly, with The Independent reporting that Jose Mourinho is the bookies favourite to take over at Manchester United.
Mourinho, formerly manager of Inter Milan and Real Madrid, has always held a soft-spot for the Red Devils and wanted to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson after his retirement in 2013.
David Moyes was eventually selected to succeed Ferguson, but lasted just nine months, as the United hierarchy was said to be concerned that Mourinho is too difficult to control.
That could change though with pressure mounting on Louis Van Gaal, who has failed to impress and inspire the fans at Old Trafford despite spending over £250m to rebuild the squad.
With two Champions League titles to his name and league crowns in Italy, England and Spain, Mourinho is regarded by the United fans in the bar to be a decent replacement for Van Gaal- as long as he improves his behaviour.
United fans, would you take Mourinho over Van Gaal? Let us know in the comments below!
