The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side will be able to pick up another win against Stoke City this weekend. The Lilywhites have been on a solid run of form in the English top flight as of late, and if they can keep their run going, a top-four finish will begin to look increasingly likely.
Standing in their way, though, are Stoke City. The Potters are never an easy team to beat, despite their poor form this season, and so Mauricio Pochettino will have to get his thinking cap on as he looks to best them later today.
His team selection is likely to lead to more than a few discussions in the Transfer Tavern, and one area that poses a particularly intriguing possibility is the attack.
Harry Kane was, of course, not fit to start against Chelsea last week, and so Erik Lamela – who has not regularly started this term – played in the attack. The Argentine would likely be the most obvious player to drop down to the bench whenever Kane returns to action, and there is nothing to suggest that he won’t be available this weekend.
We recently asked Tottenham fans about this very topic, and it appears as though most would like to see Kane replace Lamela this weekend.
63% of those polled responded in favour of Kane starting over the Argentine, and that’s despite Tottenham’s fine performance against the Blues last week.
Kane, of course, did play a small part in the game against Chelsea, and so you’d imagine that a full return could be on the cards this weekend.
The Englishman’s league goals, of which he already has 26 this season, have been key for Spurs this year, and so it’s no real surprise that fans want to see him back. Whether Pochettino opts for him, though, is a different topic entirely.
