Norwich City looked set to complete the signing of Liverpool’s Spanish defender Daniel Ayala. Fellow Premiership new boys Swansea were very close to signing the Spaniard but it seems now Norwich will move to secure a £1m deal.
Ayala represent somewhat of a transfer coup for Liverpool who convinced the the youngster to move to Anfield over signing a professional contract with Sevilla, where he had been a part of the academy.
However, Ayala has made absolutely no impact at Anfield since joining in 2009, playing only 5 games for the club in that time.
Loan spells are Hull City then Derby County allowed Ayala to demonstrate his talents and many Championships inquired about his availability.
The Daily Mirror reports that Ayala does not feature in Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish’s plans at all, and will be offloaded as soon as possible.
Though initial contact was made by Swansea, it seems that the Spaniard will be heading to Carrow Road to help Norwich with their push for Premiership survival.
