Bad news emerges for Tottenham as European giant joins race for long-term target

Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted that their side have guaranteed their place in the Champions League next season and will be looking to strengthen accordingly this summer.

The locals in the bar will want Mauricio Pochettino to add a number of players to help Spurs compete across all competitions next season and finally lift at least one major trophy after falling short in the past couple of years.

Spurs are expected to sell a number of players in order to fund some new additions, and the Daily Mirror are claiming Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is one high on their radar. The 17-year-old has impressed in the Championship and has attracted the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and now Paris Saint-Germain according to recent reports.

It is believed a deal could cost around £50million to lure the teenager away from Craven Cottage, or perhaps more if the Cottagers clinch promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Spurs locals in the Tavern will be excited that they could bring the talented prospect to White Hart Lane in the summer, although they will be aware that rival interest could scupper their bid.

A number of the punters will hope Sessegnon will choose them over their rivals as they feel Pochettino would help him to develop, having proved his expertise with the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Harry Winks in the past.

However, the prospect of moving to either the French or the English Champions could prove too tantalising a proposition for the versatile teenager to turn down, but the possibility of playing regular football and staying within London could also convince the youngster to join Tottenham instead.
