Bad news for Arsenal as extent of blow is reportedly realised, club are fearing the worst

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been sweating on the fitness of Danny Welbeck since their side drew with Chelsea on Sunday…

The Englishman’s injury was the one negative mark on the game from an Arsenal point of view, particularly given how well he had done in the lead-up to the injury.

He had looked good against the Blues, as he had done for several weeks prior, and so it’s something that Arsene Wenger will need to deal with during his absence.

Unfortunately, that absence looks set to be a relatively long-term one, with the Telegraph reporting that the Gunners are fearing that he could be out for over a month as he recovers from the blow.

This is frustrating for Arsenal as he has really impressed so far this season. As has often been the case with him, though, injury has halted his progression once more.

Landlord’s Verdict

Arsenal should be able to deal with Welbeck’s absence, given that Alexis Sanchez is now back in the fold.

Still, they have so many games coming up, and losing a player as important as Welbeck is going to be difficult to manoeuvre around, whichever way you spin it.

Somebody is going to have to replace his lethal goal threat, having already bagged 3 goals this term.
