The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for the long-term futures of both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to be sorted out…
Unfortunately, though, the saga surrounding their contracts looks set to drag on for a while yet, with the Mirror reporting that the duo are teaming up in an effort to ensure that they get the best possible deal. According to the Mirror, both players want in excess of £350,000-per-week and have joined together in an effort to ensure that they get what they want.
In truth, this is a bit of a lose-lose situation for the Gunners, as if they don’t pay up they will inevitably lose their two most important players, whilst if they succumb to pressure they could struggle to keep up financially, not to mention the fact that other players could look to demand a higher wage as a result.
For Wenger though, losing the players would come as a bitter blow to his rebuilding plans, with the Gunners desperately in need of a turnaround ahead of next season. A finish outside of the top four will not be tolerated next season, and so Wenger must tread very carefully.
