Alexis Sanchez is a fan favourite amongst the fans in the Transfer Tavern, with many in the pub hoping that their side will sign him this summer…
The Arsenal winger has undoubtedly been one of the Premier League’s best players in recent years, delivering consistent performances from the front of the Arsenal attack.
It will come as no surprise, then, to learn that both Man City and Chelsea are interested in a move for the Chilean. Perhaps more surprising, though, is the news that Arsenal are reportedly refusing to allow the Chilean to leave for another Premier League side this summer – despite the fact that Man City, in particular, are willing to offer big money. According to the Mirror, Arsenal do not want him to leave for a rival club, whilst Bayern Munich are concerned that the Chilean wants to remain in the Premier League, and so are also not confident of a move.
This is a very risky strategy from Arsenal, though you can understand their point of view. Selling to, and thusly upgrading, a rival side this summer would be a poor move – but, equally, losing Sanchez on a free next summer would also be very disappointing. In truth, it seems as though this is a lose-lose situation for Arsene Wenger, and so he needs to use all of his years of managerial experience to negotiate through this.
The Chelsea fans in the pub are dreaming of an attacking duo made up of Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez, whilst the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern want to see what Sanchez would be like leading the line with Sergio Aguero. Our landlord isn’t expecting this saga to end anytime soon.
